BRIEF

I was contacted by Defiant Origins with the aim of establishing the foundations of their streetwear brand. The brand was intended to revolve around the concept of defiance, with the slogan "against all odds." During our initial consultation, we examined their preferred brands and presented examples of specific pieces for inspiration. Based on this information, I created a mood board and carried out further research. I then designed the brand's logo, as well as additional badges and variations of the logo for use on t-shirt designs. I also chose colors for the brand and created additional t-shirt designs and social media graphics for Defiant Origins to use when they are ready to launch their brand.

CHALLENGES

Defiant Origins approached me with the task of designing a logo and badges for their company. However, they soon requested additional design work for their social media and t-shirts. Initially, I found it challenging to generate ideas that accurately represented the "defiant" theme. Eventually, I arrived at a concept featuring Greek statues and a fiery motif. To bring this vision to life, I employed a blend of photo manipulation and vector graphics techniques to create the t-shirt designs, and also created a selection of static and animated images for social media use. Following the completion of these clothing samples, Defiant Origins contacted me again to conduct a photoshoot for them, consisting of several simple studio photos.

BRAINSTORM

To kick off the brainstorming process, I gathered inspiration from biker gang fashion and Japanese biker gang style. To do so, I created a mood board and conducted additional research, focusing on tech wear and streetwear brands like Mastermind Japan and Neighborhood that caught my attention with their sleek designs. With these sources of inspiration in mind, I set out to design a logo for the brand.

PROCESS
I initially experimented with the idea of using a wolf and wolf with a skull as the brand icon. However, after struggling to make progress with that concept, I decided to take a break and try something different. I explored designs featuring a skull and reaper, and one of them really stood out to me. I put my focus into refining that design, and when I presented it to the team, they were extremely positive about it.
